With many different Florida attractions and great year-round weather, family Florida vacations are possible any time of the year. From the beaches, to the Kennedy Space Center to all the fun Orlando has to offer, Florida vacations are sure to be a hit with the whole family.
Family Friendly Beaches
When most people think of Florida vacations and the beach, they think of college spring break, but there are plenty of family friendly beaches to choose from as well. The soft white sandy beaches from St. Petersburg down to Naples are always a big draw for families. Many feature city and state parks with restroom facilities, picnic areas and playgrounds for the kids. On the East coast, it is hard to beat the fun of Daytona Beach where you can drive the family vehicle right along the sand and shop at world-famous Ron Jon’s Surf Shop!
If you’re on one of Florida’s many lakes instead of the ocean, consider taking the family water-skiing or renting a boat to go boating. You could even hire a tour guide to take you to see alligators and other native Florida animals in the wild.
Florida Attractions The Whole Family Can Enjoy
After playing at the beach for a couple days, head out to some of the many Florida attractions. There are enough places to visit to keep you busy for weeks, so create an itinerary and narrow your choices if you don’t have unlimited vacation time!
For many people, Florida vacations mean a trip to Orlando, which is home to renowned Florida attractions like Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Aquatica and Universal Studios. These are just a few of the many Florida attractions perfect for family vacations.
Nearby Polk County Florida also affords a lot of fun attractions for the whole family. The relaxing scenery of the Bok Tower Gardens and Cypress Gardens are always a nice retreat from the typical crazy theme park days. And Fantasy of Flight lets attendees actually experience many different vintage aircraft and ride a state-of-the-art hang glide simulator.
If your vacation happens to coincide with a shuttle launch at Kennedy Space Center, make that a must-see. There are many places in the Cocoa Beach area to view the actual launch, while the trip to Kennedy Space Center will give the entire family a thrilling behind-the-scenes look a the space program. It’s a unique opportunity that not many people get to experience.
Walt Disney World is home to many different theme parks and water parks, making it a vacation all in its own. You’ll find everything from an animal safari at the Animal Kingdom to a ski resort water park at Blizzard Beach. With a little planning beforehand, you’ll be able to do everything on your must-see list.
Of course, there are more Florida attractions than just what you’ll find around Orlando. If your Florida vacations have you going elsewhere, check out Gatorama, Butterfly World and the Key West Aquarium in the southern part of the state or amazing Busch Gardens in the Tampa Bay area.
Where To Stay And Where To Eat
Florida vacations mean great places to stay and eat. From quaint bed and breakfasts to large resort hotels to outdoors in a campground, there’s a place to stay for every family. The hardest part will be deciding which to choose!
There is no lack of choices when it comes to what everyone loves to do on vacation – eat. From fast food, to sit down chains, to interesting meals like a pirate’s dinner theater or a racetrack adventure, sitting down to eat will be an event all on it’s own.
The many Florida attractions and year round nice weather make Florida a great choice for a family vacation. With so much to do, the hardest part will be choosing which attractions to visit.
